Dig out one of your Datsun Bluebirds and make it fly! Limited to Bluebird 510 sedan or wagon castings. These are great cars to modify so that is encouraged, but stock entries are allowed.

This is one of my favorite castings so I'm excited to see a group of them together flying down the track. The 510 casting was abundant on the pegs so I'm hoping you have one in your stash you can sacrifice for a build. Given the limitations, this should be some good, close racing. Good luck!

Rules & restrictions

  • Must use Datsun Bluebird 510 sedan or wagon. No mix-n-match body/chassis.
  • Modified and stock entries allowed
  • 57g maximum weight
  • 3.25in. long x 2in. tall x 1.25in. wide
  • Limit 1 entry per household
  • Retail axles and wheels only. FTE allowed.
  • Dry lube only

Dates & deadlines

All entries must be received by the host before Friday, 12/6/2019. Racing is scheduled to start on Monday, 12/9/2019. Results will be posted on or after that date as is convenient for the host.

How to enter

Send your entries to:
Redline Derby Racing
c/o Brian Vaughn
PO Box 842
Grove City, OH 43123

Include $3.00 for return shipping if you want your entries back. Entries not getting returned will be given to the winner as part of the prize.

Please print and include a Race ID slip with your entry

Prizes

A fresh out of the oven RLD Axle Alignment Jig

Track

Races will be run on the Redline Derby Speedway track.

Race format and scoring

This will be a single-elimination tournament. A car will move on in the bracket only when it wins two races in a row. Cars will alternate lanes between each race.

The car that wins the final race will be declared the winner. Race host has final decision in all races.

Bracket seeding will be random but will try to avoid having an entrant race themselves, especially in the first round.

Penalties/DNF

Cars are given a grace of 1g over the stated weight limit to account for variance in scales.

If a car fails to meet any of the restrictions listed above, the car will not qualify for tournament prizes. Offending cars will still race. Prize will go to the runner-up in the case of penalty car winning.

Cars that fail to run or fit on the track, or that happen to break during racing, will forfeit their matches. Cars that arrive broken will attempt to be repaired before the tournament. Cars that break during the tournament will not be repaired or replaced.

Today... I did something I have not done in a long time. I drilled a couple cars apart....  I'm in.

  • Nice. And to all others, good luck. — redlinederby
  • Man bro, me too. Haven’t taken anything apart in a couple years. I keep planning on sending something in for a race only to get tied up. I’m looking forward to this one. Hopefully I’ll get something done. Good to see your username on here again. — delta6
  • D6, been awhile for both of us... hope all is well on your end — Traction-Event

I like what I'm seeing here.

added to my wagon, intake from Time Attaxi and fart can (rivet)

Not sure which is better on track, but they will both make the trip and add to The Ohio collection

  • As much as I love the wagon, I think the sedan has the edge. It weighs more from the get go. Dug mine out over the weekend...getting ready... — redlinederby

If I can find one in time I'm in. They just aren't hanging on the pegs and I don't buy on line (no PayPal). Nobody wants USPS money orders anymore.

  • Been a long time. Pm me your address, let me know if you want a wagon or a sedan and I’ll send it your way. — delta6
  • Keep an eye on some of the 5 packs with the wagon, the satin and chrome wagon and the red Momo sedan. I know where a couple are if needed as well! — Mattman213
  • Bummer. Last I was at Kroger there were a few wagons hanging on...but yeah, they ain't peggin' like they used to. — redlinederby

Built one of each as well.  Wife and kid took over the wagon and personalized it some so it'll be their contribution.  My first Sedan ended up being a dud for some reason but the new one I just started is much much better and should be done in the next couple days.
