This is my first post on the build of the new TRE! ..... The Racer's Edge Racetrack
I created a YouTube channel, and I posted an intro text posting, and now have posted my first video to it. If all goes right, it looks like I am to copy/paste this as the location for the video.

Everyone starts somewhere; you have the added motivation to reclaim some Man Space and divest of some unwanted stuff too. Not to get in your business, could I ask what climate challenges you have? Extremes of temp make filming races a bit harder to do, to say nothing of their affect on track performance. Wishing Luck!!
- Climate is Washington State by the Coast. I have two garage type heaters in the garage @240v. Rains alot, and can get cold. — RacerGnome
Some considerations:
-Make the track accessible from EVERYWHERE, including underneath. Make sure you can reach every inch of track.
-Consider making it in modules that can be moved with little hassle.
-Don't block anything you might need to get to later (pipes, electrical panels, etc.)
-Start from the bottom, work your way upwards.
-Test.
-Test.
-Test some more.
-Test even more.
-Run another test.
Looks like you've got a nice area there to play with. You're going to have a lot of fun.
- test track, sections, curves BEFORE you start building. it will save a lot of redo, and spydude is on the money, especially rear access. you'd be surprised where cars can go, and soft ground, aka mats, carpet, bubble wrap when ya start testing — dr_dodge

I posted another post and video showing the first part of the cleanup. We were able to really take our time going through all the stuff we owned, and were surprised to find things we had forgotten we put away for storage. Had us laughing at the things we found and now have two of because we forgot we already one. :-)
I am thankful that I have MamaGnome to help in this endeavor. As I believe I mentioned before, she also used to help out when I raced R/C cars back in the late 80's. She was my pit crew and would work on changes to my car while I got to explore other pit crews and talk to the drivers. Great hobby to be in and traveling all over the south to regional states for the big races. We get a mini weekend vacation and race at the same time. Those were fun times.
Now, with Die Cast Racing, I hope to introduce a little bit of fun again, occupy my time since I am retired; and have the wife by my side to discuss things with.

Posting an update to the clearing of the totes and furniture; getting close now to finishing the clean up.
Couldn't pass up this local wood for possible construction design fabrication.
Went to the local Gnome Depot Lumber Mill today, and picked up some wood for the construction of the tracks.
Was reviewing the Facebook Marketplace when I saw that someone was selling a bundle of 20) 3', 20) 4', and 20) 5', cut length cedar. These are 1"x2" strips basically. I had considered some 1"x3" for my frame to hold the track up in the air, so this will work as a preliminary first build for structure. All of this (60 Pieces) for only $15. As I talked on the phone with the guy and mentioned the project, he asked if I needed anything else? Well, yes, I could use about 4) 8' sticks. Sure enough, he said he would go pull them for me and charge me $4. When I went to pick up, him and his helper loaded the car for me, and he pulled a few extra 8' pieces and a couple of 9' sticks. I gave him $20 and was quite happy with the load. Being in a small lumber town, he has his own mill and these are the scraps that he has to find a way to get rid of when he cuts large trees into dimensional lumber. He says it is best for him to have someone get these for cheap, then having to cut it down to firewood for people, or even have to burn it himself if there is too much stacking up.
One issue came about this. I ran into a local Elder who started to give me trouble. He believes that when I applied for the permits for my racetrack, that it was never documented that I plan to have 3 distinct tracks and a bonus track. I tried to explain to him, but he didn't want to hear it. He was one of the very vocal ones who opposed me building in the first place. Him and his group protested at the council meeting when my permits were issued for the project.
Too late buddy! I have my planning documents and building permits all secured and approved. He can go and kiss my booty if he thinks I am going to change my plans now. I hate these types of people. They think that just because they are an Elder, they have every right to tell others what they can do. I am a senior, just not an Elder.
The Gnomes in this village support me, for the most part, the bringing of racing to the village.
