BROKE INTO THE HOT WHEELS VIDEO CAMERA CAR'S PACKAGE... READ THE INSTRUCTIONS...
I WANTED THE VIDEO TO BE FROM SLIGHTLY ABOVE THE ACTION SO AS TO SEE BOTH CARS AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE,
I ALSO WANTED THE VIDEO TO BE FROM THE SIDE AND BEHIND THE RACERS [NO CRASHES]...
I WANTED THE CARS TO PULL AWAY FROM THE CAMERA CAR...
I RACED SOME POTENTIAL "MULES" TO CARRY THE CAMERA CAR...
A MATCHBOX "V W TRANSPORTER" SEEMED A GOOD SHOT ;
Diecast Cars, Hot Wheels, Matchbox
I CUT THE ROOF OFF, LEAVING THE DRIVER'S W/S POST AND PASSENGER'S REAR QUARTER UPRIGHT AS SIDE SUPPORTS.
I FILLED THE BASE WITH LIQUID STEEL AS BALAST...
I TAPED THE POSTS AND BODY OFF WITH RACING DUCT TAPE...
Diecast Cars, Hot Wheels, Matchbox
I CUT SOME VELCROW STRIPS AND STUCK SOME FOR AND AFT OF THE LCD SCREEN...
Diecast Cars, Hot Wheels, Matchbox
STUCK THE MATING VELCROW TO THE MULE'S "BED"...[GRIPS TOO GOOD]...VELCROW STAYS ON THE CAMERA CAR...
RED ELASTIC DOUBLED UP WORKS PERFECT, DOESN'T RUB...
Diecast Cars, Hot Wheels, Matchbox
TRIED A DOZEN SINGLE PASSES 6' LONG... THE MULE HAS SPED UP WITH THE ADDED WEIGHT...
I'M GONNA LEAVE IT FOR NOW, IF IT WERE THE SAME SPEED AS OUR SERIES CARS WOULD BE GREAT !
SOME ATTIC TESTING THIS AFTERNOON....COULDN'T WAIT... MADE A COUPLE PASSES... THE RACERS ARE VERY FAST HARD TO REALLY SEE THE RACES ON THE LCD SCREEN... THIS PROJECT IS ON HOLD !

That's nice but will it be able to win?.....

Don't give up on it! I really like the idea you came up with. At first I was like, why just a straight lane next to your track. Now I understand it.

I don't even use the LCD. Plug it into your PC, that is where you will really able to see it. Just make sure you have enough lighting on your track. The camera angle is wide enough that if you run it behind or in front of the cars (going backwards) you will pick up multiple lanes.

It might start driving you crazy though as you see so many imperfections of the track from this perspective. I will see bumps I did not know where there before that disrupt the cars.

I tried the hot wheels video racer site to upload.... never happens for me... I quit when an artwork site popped up and I couldn't get rid of it... since then my computer has changed in little ways...

I never have used their website. I go straight to the file.

When you plug the video racer into your PC it should assign a drive to your PC. Somewhat similar to a camera or memory stick. Then you can open it from the video racer or move the file(s) and to your PCs hard drive. As long as you have software that allows you to view the videos (you should..) then it will open up and play. To edit the video, then you will need something else.

And don't overlook that video racer as a real racer. That same gray version is by far the fastest car that we have. It is the top on my track and easily won on the 50 foot league track.

I plugged it in... this time it transferred the video to my computer... watched it a couple times... now I can't find it any where... I hit -delete after importing-... did that delete them from the libraries... it doesn't with pix ?

Maybe a bit lousy but it has possibilities for some interesting video. Do not be discouraged. I have a video racer and what you did inspires me to do something similar......Go Smitty go!!

Awesome.

Just needs some fine tuning. Do you have the option of slow motion?

Try to flood the entire track with more light from beginning to end. It may help with the blocky pixilation.

the burnout track has to start at 15*...
tomorrow I will remove the [2] transfers and run all 18 feet flat at about 15 *...cars will be slower but may be a smoother[easier] video...
I may also experiment by turning the starter 180* to eliminate the esses for now...
can I edit it to slow-motion later ?

If I remember right, the cars have two settings. One has a faster Frame Per Second than the other, which will give you a better video. I haven't had the problem that you see. Check out mine, up on the http://orangetrackracing.org/ for some examples (near the bottom of the page). Like I said before, good lighting is a must for them.
