Where is DiecastDude?
I tried to message DiecastDude to have my cars returned. Cars he's had for over a year now. Cars I paid cash to have returned. His last comment was his dog ate his track but he repaired it and did a few races, then nothing.
Apparently he is now off RLD, his message name doesn't come up when I try to message him, all I can do is leave a comment on his YouTube posts.
This is why a rating for tracks is becoming essential. Nothing about the Semi Truck race, Summer Rally not completed, and how much money did he receive for returning cars? Not good....
Discussion
I have also left comments on his channel
I sent a big rig in, and never saw my truck at all
this type of stuff sucks, but, as blueline said,
I have just written them off.

- Yah I’m bummed cuz that big rig was old & a collectors item. I see it sitting on the diorama~ ticks me off (My entry) — G_ForceRacing
- mine was too — dr_dodge
- Yup. Mine too! grrrrrr — CraigsterSr
No idea, many of us have tried to contact him via Facebook and the messages haven't even been read.
- Yeah it’s too bad~ I thought he was one of the elite hosts. Communication is paramount. I’ve hosted a few races, and have kept in contact with the entrants, & returned the cars. Too bad, I hope he’s still alive! — G_ForceRacing
As a host myself I can not even imagine doing this to you builders. Even if life got me down short of a fire or Tornado or something that destroyed everything I owe. I would make sure people got there cars back if I just decided to close up shop. And let's hope none of that happens lol
- !00%, exactly how I feel too. Good on you! — CutRock_R_Marc_D
- Exactly! — G_ForceRacing
- You are running a 5 star operation. — AbbyNormal
- You returned my cars very quickly. Thank you — Banjo
Heart wrenching to hear the drivers' side of things when a channel goes POOF with this many irons in the fire.
So many available avenues to get some word to the racers and the disposition of their entries & attached commitments, the radio silence isn't doing DD's once glowing rep any favours
Speaking only as a fan, cherish those hosts you've built rapport with and those continuing to be worthy of it--life can upset the apple cart in a big hurry anytime
Really sad. I would've loved to send a car to his track.
Sorry to hear this, brother. I know exactly what you're going through. I have several really good cars that I've sent out that really kicked a$$, and I've had to write off all of them, because the hosts either stopped responding or closed down their channels. Now I'm at the point where if I send a car out, I just make a note of where i sent it, and write it off. The ones who are honest and return the cars, I give good marks .... the ones who don't get publicly slammed and shamed, so people know not to send to a host that won't play by the rules.
I've mentally written off a number of cars and I've been pleasantly surprised to eventually have cars show up in the mail. Recently I received cars back from Rick at Comet Tail which was fantastic. And there are apparently cars in the mail from Knobby Ridge but that's a guess. My one comment to race hosts would be a single email/communication something lilke - 'I'm starting to return cars from the xxxx race it could be few weeks before I wrap that up. Thanks for your patience.'
Does the current Redline framework offer easy mass email tools for hosts? Or are there tools for that sort of communication through internal Redline methods?
- Thanks for the kind words glad you are happy with our service. Always glad to have you at the Comet Tail — Comet_Tail_Raceway
I've seen a lot of hosts come and go over the years and every year it seems someone just up and dissapears. Many times it's while holding several cars for several promised tournament's. There are signs though.
1. Have they taken on way more than any adult with a job and family can possibly get done in a reasonable amount of time?
2. Have you seen their interest drop off some? They were once blasting out videos and now maybe they've cut way back?
3. Were they really quick at returning cars and now all of the sudden it's taking months or a year to get your cars back?
4. Did they once make every race deadline and suddenly every race is way overdue?
5. Are they 3-4 tournaments deep and on their current pace of video output it would take over a year or years to race all the cars they hold?
We all have lives and things happen that can't be accounted for but in all the hosts I've seen just up and leave these were some of the signs.
There are excuses. Family problems, they got sick, lost their job but all you ask for is communication. If I had a car out worth $100 and you got sick or needed help I know I and just about any other person involved in this hobby would offer a hand or easily forget about the car. There is no excuse for no communication though.
- Communication is key. At least let people know what is going on instead of dropping in a hole and disappearing. — SpyDude
- well said — dr_dodge
- What gets to me is seeing other tournaments/events all the while still holding cars from tournaments long since ended. — CaShMoneyBoyS
- Exactly. Let us know what’s up, this community is usually very understanding & patient. — G_ForceRacing
- Ditto cash — G_ForceRacing
- 'Host Burn Out' is real, and that's why I'm taking it slow so I don't get overwhelmed... I've seen it with Monster, Commotion and others... Too bad DD/Phil is having these communication issues, but anything would be better that silence! — CraigsterSr
- Understand the sentiments. Some people just dont care about anyone but themselves. Cheers — CutRock_R_Marc_D
A blight on the diecast hobby for sure.
I feel for all that have been "taken to the cleaners" I sadly have scores of cars etc, lost to what one mostly can only call as thieves.
And as others have said, communiciation is key. Things can happen, but good responsible people will still in the end find a way to make right...But not if one is a "con" person to start off with.
Cheers, wish everyone all the best out there. Look out for some when I visit the US!
- If you make it to the Oregon coast hit me up!! — G_ForceRacing
- thieves, exactly to take someones hard work, time, and usually blood (drilled myself many times) and discount it — dr_dodge
Just got my cars back from Boss Championship Racing. Kudos to him!!
- Maybe we need a thread called - I got my cars back - as a way to find reliable hosts. — AbbyNormal
- or did something happen — dr_dodge
- I enjoyed watching their racing! What not write up an event review to post? — CutRock_R_Marc_D
Write them off. You'll never see them again. He has my car also. I mentioned it here before and nobody seemed to care. I mentioned it on his channel and he made one video where my first place car mysteriously DNFd twice to the viewers delight and then nothing else. Coincidence? Maybe. The Summer series also required a $5 per car for prize money.
