Gnomeo's Run is our first build, and it is a smaller track length to fit in the space we have chosen to hold our first season. While only being short by about 10% in length to scale, it is not quite a 1/4-mile.
The thought was for this track, that instead of having the cars 'smash' into a finish line cushion and get 20' of length, we can shorten it by 2' and install a 180-degree turn to bring the cars back to the start instead. Good for the car to stop on their own or a slower roll into a soft cushion. This will make it easier on me as the host to pick up the cars after each match. A win for the consideration of the racer's car, and for me as a host with less walking.
The track is just shy of a 1/4-mile scale track coming in at about 18' long from starting gate to finish line. There is an 8' long sloped transition from the start gate pedestal, to the level track base. This leaves about 10' of track to go until you get to the finish line.
As you progress through the finish line at the end of the strip, you will head into a Slanman Customs 180-degree turn. This return will allow cars coming off the drag strip to slow down and come back to the starting gate. Cars either will stop on their own as they finish out their roll, or coast into a soft checkered flag blanket.
The start gate is on an adjustable pedestal base so changes to starting heights and slope angles can be set. This will allow the same track to be used with various heights and slopes to have different timed races. The height and slope can be set, and then drop an overall transition of 8' to track level, and then flat to the finish line.
Timing System
This track utilizes the PlayRobotics timing system which includes the starting gate launch, and the finish line winner determination.
