Mad Max Halloween Race
Love that #9 car - Van + Fish = Awesome.
Can't tell from the photo but is the screen mesh on the ambulance drawn on or did you actually put in the screen? Eitherway, looks bad ass. I fear the medic the most.
- It is real screen. Got it from one of the windows of my camper that I use as an art studio. — Finkle_and_Sons
Finkle, sweet art! Cool rides!... love that is says "MOVE" on the meat wagon.
Crazy cool stuff being built!!
I LIKE!!! ALL OF THEM!
Welp, I let out yesterday morning to head towards south Dakota, and my wife was on her way to Alabama. She got home early, and saw my box to Montana was ready to mail, so she took it to the PO.
PACKZILLA IS ON THE WAY!!
I LOVE MY WIFE!!
As of today I have just one entry so I'm going to skip the early popularity contest and just run it between the two races. Make s'more sense for every one wanting to enter a Halloween race. So anything that arrives on Halloween or later is in everything.
Sorry for not talking this up more or having some previews of the track, I've been consumed by some home improvement projects and planting some 500 flower bulbs.
Also my (wife's) first race video. Needs more light and som camera skills. Anyway, test runs.
You'll notice that despite the straight run, it's hard to finish. Part of the problem, the main problem other than that I didn't select straight running cars, is that the track isn't slick enough. Once a car gets sideways the wheels grip too much and the car sticks the turn and slams into the wall. Granted, I was running the cars really fast, to compensate for the noticed stickiness, faster I figured more slippy.
Anyway, that's raw straight from the store MDF. In my early tests I thought it had the best balance. Turns out not. So I got some 320 and 600 grit to top off the 220 I already have to smooth out the road and get some more play.
As of today I have:
Redlinederby - 1
Hole Shot Lizzotte - 3
Crzytrkrdude - 1
Finale - 3
Plus me, who's behind in building but should have 3 that honestly will pale in coolness to some of these.
I saw Delta's monster in the thread and some others have expressed interest...still time to get here if you build this weekend.
Also, prize pool is getting pretty hot...all of Hole Shot's cars, and a 007 car, and of course blueray Fury Road or...if you have Fury Road or if you prefer I'll dip into the memory banks and find some good slightly obscure post apocalypse movie(s) to substitute.
I love the build of the open road track, even if it needs some more smoothness. Like the longer curve slope and the extra wideness too.
Now I'm not sure my Mad Max truck thing will survive, but should be fun to see it tip over at least.
Finally got this thing done. It weighs a ton, but I haven't put it on the scale yet. The plow completes it, but it'll have to come off for the race.

I'm having trouble sharing photos, but I've got three entries. You can see them on my Flikr, just can't figure out how to share the individual photos. https://www.flickr.com/photos/andyfinkle/
