The open track race is complete...nothing went as I would have expected...if you are curious what my wife looks like, she's in every video, good sport. She's also editing everything, and took most of the stills. Her name is Allison.

13 total entries. We ran three heats of 5. Added two fillers. Each heat was run 5 times. Top two advanced to a six car race. Cars were packed in pretty tight on the six car race, these were big cars, I did not anticipate that as even with six random stockers, there's plenty room on the track.

I sanded the track with 320 and then 600 grit morning of race day...stI'll never got it as slick as I wanted. Will need to work on the surface for future races. 30 inch drop spread over 16 feet in a 22 feet ish track.

Points....I didn't figure out points for this race ahead of time. But mostly because I didn't know how many entries I'd have or how the structure would go. Goal was for the winner to have as many points as the winner of next week's orange track drag. 13 entries. I'll use three fillers. 16 car field. Point for each win plus point for winner of winner of winners bracket vs winner of losers bracket. 5 points will be had by winner next week.

So, I decided to give one point for each win tonight...but none in tie breakers. Plus one extra to overall winner. that technically meant that someone could walk away with 12 points. However, winner got 4. Two others also got 4.

Videos and results up tomorrow. Oh and one race so close I couldn't tell on my camera, had to upload to computer for a larger screen and still had a hard time.

I'll post results and points tomorrow so as to not give any spoilers...though the results are a little bit hard to follow since the video quality isn't the best. There are some amusing shots of my legs as I get into filming position.

Need help with two things. Points spreadsheet and a disinterested party to receive PMs for style points voting.

Great job to you and the Mrs! The multi-car races are tough because that cars get all tangled with each other.

I think I need to go a little lower center of gravity next time!

Bummed I didn't make the finals but at the same time it's crazy difficult to engineer for this type of race...I knew my truck would be too wobbly. Wasn't really made for open roads.

But the videos gave all the action and to be honest, I couldn't stop laughing at that first heat...just all the chaos and crashing and then Trucker's cars comes sauntering by the finish. All of it is very worthy of a Mad Max race.

Maybe I missed a note but were points awarded only if the car made the finish, or to the car that made it the furthest (if none made it to the end)?

Again, just love how that track is built and angled. Can't wait to see how you improve it.
