Hardcore Downhill Series Preview, Texas Diecast Racing
I didn't notice any other injuries so I think we're good on all the rest. Some crazy mods in the bunch, gotta say, and I'm amazed at how heavy some of them are. I'll be interested to see how they do on the Redline track which seems to have a knack at penalizing over-heavy cars on the flat but maybe since they're all heavy it'll even out.
GLAD THE RACERS CAME TO ROOST...
ANYTHING YOU CAN DO TO HELP THE WOUNDED (EVEN IF SELF INFLICTED) PLEASE DO.....
I HAVE LEFT ELBOW SURGURY TO COME, TUESDAY THE 25TH.. [ FRED'S ] OR MY RACES THE 29TH...
I CAN RACE BUT NOT MUCH REPAIR WITH ONE HAND... THANKS... SMITTY
I think it might be necessary to find a better way of securing these racing machines for shipping. I could find very little damage to the box when I received it but yet 2 of the cars had pretty significant damage to the axles. Like maybe they had been stepped on. I was quite puzzled as to how it could have happened. The 33 Ford I can kind of understand though. Its just a touch of glue that holds the axle in the brass tube. Ive got a couple modded cars of my own that have come apart that way.
When the cars left Iowa--everything was good.
Any chance that maybe the extreme cold that the packages might be seeing in shipment might be impacting the glues that are used on some of the cars? I also know that those packages can take quite a beating by any of the shipping companies (USPS, UPS, FedEx etc..) Have seen many damaged boxes over the years.

Having worked unload, load, and sort positions for UPS, I can personally attest to the amnt of stress put on to those packages.
i raced with a group, thought they messed with my cars...no way, it was the stop box... looked cool, but beat the cars to death,
it may look shabby but a rolled up towel works every time, the cars burrow under it, push it, and compress it, the three work to absorb impact... a stop box is a non factor with most stockers... but with mods, driver beware!

My stop box has a 3" thick piece of memory foam at the end. The cars actually when going fast enough, bounce backwards and continue rolling back up the track in reverse direction. But since I've lengthened the track, rarely do they carry enough speed to get much more than a couple inches back towards the finish line. Im quite proud of it.
I don't think there's any on track issues. That would be seen when packing the cars for shipment. I figured the individual compartments and bubble wrap would be good.
I'm working on some foam panels for the next series.... we'll see how that works.
Racing completed here in Ohio this morning only one minor incident. Somewhere during the brackets the orange T-Bird (BG18) had a front tire bend, but it got about half way through the whole thing...unlike Jason's big rig truck that was too wide to even fit on the track so it ended up dead last.
Some good looking mods in the bunch and some VERY heavy cars...unfortunately for some, the Redline Track doesn't seem to favor overly heavy cars. Some of the trucks had trouble on the track once it got to the straightaway, letting cars come from behind for a victory. Was a lot of racing though across the many brackets so it was a lot of fun to watch.
Ready to roll...

Almost race time!
Stop #5 in the great state of Maine.... Dirigo
If you can't repair the car you'll have to use the Packard in it's place. No racing with missing or lose parts. And that little Ferrari is actually a '33 Ford, lol
Were all of the other cars in good shape?
All of the cars will get a pit stop at the Red Ones Garage next week. Smitty is going to give 'em all a good tune up before the race.
