Is an 09 F-150 the fastest mainline Hot Wheels?

Boogie2020 Monday, 2/2/2015

Last weekend, I went to a Hotwheels tournament (25 ft downhill, orange track), with my 5 yo son. From around 100 cars entered (most are mainline though) , there were only 3 models left in the last 16 !  ( V16, F150 and MR11) I saw many of FTEs, 2012 high speed wheels wiped out by F150s ( I think I saw vega FTE, 300C FTE, C6 FTE, GR1 FTE, GTX1 FTE)

In the last 4, they all were 09 F150 ! (2 grey, 2 blue)

and the winner was 09 F150 grey one

This make me wonder if F-150 is the fastest mainline hotwheels ( I watched some Youtubes from Ghostjerker, F-150 is really a king there)

I wouldn't say it is. The fastest mainline HW would probably be the Way 2 Fast FTE. But there are Hot Wheels that are MUCH faster than one of those, that aren't part of the mainline. Some of the Pro Racing NASCARs and the King Kenny funny cars can be very, very fast.

The real secret to racing diecast cars is finding the right car for the track that you happen to be racing on. That said, it is very possible that the F150 is one of the fastest cars for that particular track. But given the almost endless options of castings available, it might be also safe to assume that the fastest mainline may not have been entered that day.

I agree that the fastest car is pretty much per track, however, based on our old Fantasy League data, some of the fastest mainline cars are the Ferrari Testarossa, Land Rover MKII, Dodge Demon...just to pick the Top 3.

The Fantasy League was an online game that had stock Hot Wheels racing around the country on tracks in straight up 16-car tournaments. Wins and losses were calculated into rating that tried to be fair across tracks. It's proven math but it's not hard science. Admittedly, most of the racing took place on my home race track...but there were several races that took place on other tracks.

Here's a link to the old Fantasy League database and car ranking leaderboard.

On a side note, the Fantasy League will be returning later this year and will resume keeping stats on stock Hot Wheels.

My boys have won many, many races and point championships in truck classes using the 09 ford f150s.  We have had the best luck with the red ones.  The newest ones are good but not close to the first releases.  I would say it may be the fastest truck non fte out there. 97 Ford F150 would be next.

Fastest mainline truck would have to be FTE Escalade.
