Time to send

Schottys_diecast Monday, 11/14/2022

Hi everybody.

To all the host of races:

First of all: Thank you a lot for doing this, we all apprecite your immense work for our community! This is for sure a lot of work! Thank you all!!!!

I have a question. Would it be possible to announce the races a little bit earlier than 3-4 weeks before sending-in date? I'm from Europe and I had it now recently that a car arrived to late. I have send it exactly 4 weeks before the date and it was still not enough time to arrive on time. And if you have to prepare a special casting (year, brand and so on) it will take a few days more.

thank you for thinking about

If somebody has any idea how i could make it faster without spending 40$ for speadshipping 60 gramms, you are for sure welcome! ;)

I hear you, Schotty.  Makes sense.  I'll do my best to give more notice.  Nick over at Tiny Track Cars has been talking about putting out an entire 2023 schedule.

  • I really thank you a lot! I hope that i can send one someday on your track! This is an amazing work you did. Even at this point! Your first track came in like en earthquake at that time! Thank you — Schottys_diecast
  • I know that putting out a whole shedule for a year is hard! This sounds for most of us like work. I have to do this and that…. — Schottys_diecast

There's been a lot of December races pop up recently. I think a lot of them are just trying to get one last race in. It should even out in January. December is going to be the busiest month in a while.

December shipping is always tricky with the volume of parcels in the post... so m planning on a couple of races for the new year...so if you're interested send me a PM and I will shoot you over the details. My track is a bit different and as it stands the only one that uses the knobby tires for races... check out 905Diecast on YouTube for an idea of what my track is.

Totally understand Schotty.

I have to allow 4 weeks min to get there. And as you say, many times you have to add the time on to source the required casting. And yes, most races are run and done before one can get there...That's if with time shift you even make it onto the entry list. Then this time of the year postal traffic is slowed, especially from mid Dec to mid Jan. Yeah not easy.

All the best to you out there, Marc D

  • Yes, that's an other good point with the timeshift and the entrylist. — Schottys_diecast

What service are you using that takes over a month? I use air Mail UK to US or Canada and it takes about 8-10 days. I have one parcel to Rust Belt take over three weeks and miss the event but that was a one off (I hope).

Before I got into racing diecasts I was a slotcar racer and used to buy a lot of my spares from a vendor in Australia because he reliably took 8 days to ship from Australia to England and was faster for me than a lot of domestic vendors!

But yeah, a month from announcement to deadline is -tight- for trans-Atlantic races. We need more races on this side of the pond!

  • I'm sending them with the normal local "post Luxembourg" because the price is around 21euro up to 2kg. If I send it with an other company for faster shipping the price is between 40 and 60 euro. for sending 60g it will get an expensiv hobby. Yes, we need more tracks in europe. I had running a few cars in italy on a verry nice track, but the channel stopped in the middle of the tournament without any comment. — Schottys_diecast
