The world ended, but the Joust must continue. This competition will pit 5 car teams against each other in a battle for precious fuel. It will be similar to the first custom event I hosted, with a few tweaks.  Here is the first episode on the track so you can get a feel for it.

Rules & restrictions

  • Modified entries only
  • 200g maximum weight
  • 5in. long x 2in. tall x 1.25in. wide (I will accept longer vehicles within reason)
  • Limit 2 teams entries per household
  • No wheel restrictions
  • Anything that doesn't drip onto track
  • Vehicle must be capable of being on its side AND also upside-down (can be eliminated). Example: the Iron Man bike currently competing in Joust has no upside-down so cannot qualify for this event)
  • A team cannot have 2 of the same vehicle, all 5 must be different (no 5 Turtoshells)
  • I will allow cars with ramps, but I strongly encourage you to limit it to 1 per team. Variety is the spice of life!  I'm defining ramps as: something on the back of a vehicle designed to send other cars off the track and into the air.
  • Do not make vehicles purposely slow or too wide. Vehicles must be able to drive to the end of the track or they will be disqualified
  • Please provide me with a team name and names (or make/model) of your vehicles. Driver names are optional
  • Your vehicles must look apocalyptic (think Mad Max). Other apocalyptic genres are okay too
  • I accept apocalyptic team logos in png format, but if you don't have one we will make it for you
  • Please include everything I need to know on the entry form. If you send messages to various chats/discord it becomes difficult to keep track of information. Thanks!

Dates & deadlines

All entries must be received by the host before Friday, 2/10/2023. The competition is scheduled for March. Results will be posted on or after that date as is convenient for the host.

Race format and scoring

In the Apocalypse Joust competition teams will send down their cars in the best strategic order I can determine–it will not be random. I'll try to help your team perform as well as they can, but I can't guarantee you will agree with all my decisions. That's sports for you!

At the end of the round if a car is sideways or upside-down it is eliminated. If it is right side up (a 45 degree tilt or less is considered right side up) it moves on to the next round. This continues until there are 3 winning teams per heat. In the final there can be only one winning team.

Penalties/DNF

If a car fails to meet any of the restrictions listed above, the car will be disqualified and will not compete. I will contact you about a replacement or sub in one of the single cars to complete your team.

Cars that fail to run all the way down the track or fit on the track cannot compete. Any car that breaks during racing can still compete (assuming it is not eliminated) unless the car is unable to successfully make it down the track. Pieces that break off during competition will not be reattached.

Cars that arrive broken will attempt to be minimally repaired before the racing begins.

Prizes

Enough barrels of gasoline (from Baby Humungus Cookie's vault) to keep your cars running for quite some time.
