  • That is a cool technique! I'd only ever heard of alcohol inks in the context of using them as a wash on white-primed wargame minis, but this looks a lot easier! — Rainsford

****  CLOSED, ROSTER IS FULL ******

Thanks to all of you for participating, should be a great tournament of which I don't think anyone else has done before, it will be interesting to see what weights and lubes work better on drag strips vs. road course.

Should be a learning experiment for us all, and open your eyes to oil/graphite in case you prefer one over the other....I personally prefer oil.

When I have all the cars ready to put together I will make a video showing the weights and screwing the bodies on so you can see that I followed the roster, then they all get put on the turntable for a showcase video before they start racing on the dragstrip.

I will create a driver/car roster this weekend and post it here and on my facebook group.

My facebook group is here, please join.   It's to follow my work on customs and my racing only, whether its on my track or other tracks.

Join my Facebook Group Here Please

For numbering of the cars:

- The 8 cars of graphite will get a number, 1 - 8.

- The 8 cars of oil will get a letter, A - H.

-This is to quickly identify if graphite/oil wins and because some of the colors are hard to tell them apart quickly.

-The first rounds are basically oil vs graphite, so race one is car 1 vs car A.  then car 2 vs car B so the cars racing each other are identical, only difference is lube.

-From then on, it's whoever wins each round ending with 1 tournament winner for drag racing and 1 tournament winner for road course.

May 3rd is the scheduled date to start, if I get ready sooner, I'll post a notification here.   I will post the final assembly video when I am ready also, so just subscribe to my channel and you won't miss it.

Thanks!

  • I joined the group but I will say that I don't really use facebook. If you could keep us up to date here as well i'd appreciate it! — WorpeX
  • No problem...also, as mentioned, subscribe to my YouTube channel, and you won't miss a thing. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCrX0CfyYgS3fgnr9qplx0sA — WidowmakerRun

So .... 16 identical cars, with the only differences being oil or graphite, heavy or light weight, and placement of said weight in the car. (And obviously color, but that was a given.) This should be an interesting experiment.

Remember: the difference between playing with toys and conducting research is documenting everything, either by writing it down or videoing it. So let's start doing some effing research! :p
