I put a lot of work into making my lanes equal. There was a time when they were so far off that I would get so frustrated with it that i'd stop racing. On my track, the starting gate was the culprit - and it was evident in video that I took. I went through a TON of different starting gates until I eventually came to the conclusion that they all are pretty much awful. haha. I went back to my second design and just kept tweaking that one. I redid the bolt system on it and tightened up/loosened some screws. I keep one side tighter then the other side because I noticed a difference when they were both an equal tension. Now, i'm fairly happy with it. Any lane advantage is so minimal that only cars which are literally identical in speeds see any difference. Just had the find the sweet spot and it took a long time to find! I'm sure on a longer track there are A LOT more variables then with mine though.

Thanks for the share WorpeX! Haven't heard from ya in a while and was wondering what you where up to.
It is so totally frustrating when one lane runs faster than the other, especially in really close races! Glad you figured out the problem.

On my track, the starting gate was the culprit

You know, I've really been watching my starting gate for a while now. It's a flat piece of pexi-glass, hinged from above. I lift it from the left side to start the race. I've wondered if the left lane gets a little jump because that where I'm lifting the gate. It seems impossible to have an advantage because of that. But the more I watch the more I wonder. I've tried different techniques when I actually lift it to see it has an effect. Hard to say...

I had the same problem TLD. I actually ended up moving the pull string that's attached to my plexi over more towards the middle of the glass, which seems to allow for a more even start.

Thanks Jim, I might have to work on mine a little bit. I guess the pexi glass could have a bit of flex. I keep talking myself out of doing any modifications, but it probably wouldn't hurt to do some testing. Sounds like a few people have experienced the same thing.

-mice to see Worpex posting up in here. He's been quiet for a while. His tournament might have take some wind out of his sails.

I am a fan of the plexiglass swinging door starter, I converted the BURNOUT TRACK to a MAGIVER starter because the speed brake pins didn't have enough throw, they let the gassers slide over them unless I held the reset button down, when I added a dab of glue the lowriders hung up...
postal elastics power for the MAGIVER...the door gets out of they way quickly ...
the 2nd heet of the trophy series will use the magiver on the burnout track ;Diecast Cars, Hot Wheels, Matchbox
note the pin hight....
converted to magiver ;

Such a cool track Smitty! You should fly WorpeX over to take video of the races. Would love to see that track in action!
