HW Trackin' Trucks....anyone??

I picked up a HW Trackin' Truck @ Wallyworld a few weeks ago. It was the first time I'd ever seen them on US pegs. This series of fantasy-like Semis are narrower than the more common "Truckin' Transporters" & "Long Haulers" and are designed for track use. They all seem to have plastic bodies on metal chassis'...a trend all too common with modern HWs...but they do have some redeeming qualities. The chassis' themselves are fairly large in comparison to standard cars and seem to have a abundance of metal in them. Even the box trailer portion of the truck that I purchased uses a huge chunk of metal for the main chassis. These are also long-wheelbase vehicles, which should help make them retain balance with added weight(modders??). Some of the cabs have 6 wheels, some have 4...using large PR5s or OH5s on most models. The trailers are removable if you want to race the cab portion by itself.

So, has anyone else seen these on their pegs yet?

Yes, at Walmart.....and yes, I'm intrigued to say the least.

FWIW, I picked up a "Turbo Beast" @ Wally this weekend. It's certainly one of the most unique designs(besides the Volkswagen Hauler) in the Trackin' Trucks series. 'Race Grooves' debuted them a few years ago as an international release, so it was refreshing to finally see them on our pegs. Turbo Beast is considerably longer than other trucks in the series. Despite it's size, the truck is mostly plastic. Only the small cab portion itself is made of metal.

Yes, I've been tempted to buy a few of them to race but haven't pulled the trigger yet.

Might be worth it for the nice big wheels. What's the price point on them? I haven't seen them around here yet...although haven't been looking that hard.

  • ~$4ea in my area, good availability too. There was more than 1 Turbo Beast on the pegs. I even left a VW Hauler behind. — GspeedR

The catch for a future race would be the Start Gate...have to be a custom build for sure, and one of the reasons I haven't picked one or two up yet.

The trucks do separate from their trailers and can be raced individually. I've also started them from my 3Dbotmaker starting gate with the starting peg holding the rear trailer axle.
